Box Storage System Video
over 4 years ago – Sun, Sep 29, 2019 at 07:06:00 PM

Below is a rough video I shot showing the prototype for the Box Storage System Stretch Goal. There are three guiding principles to this system:

  • The system must accommodate sleevers and non-sleevers alike
  • The system must accommodate horizontal and vertical storage
  • The system must accommodate a wide variety of storage styles (by family, by player count, by component, etc.)
  • NOTE: Folded Space, GameTrayz, or a similar 3rd party system are outside the scope of this campaign

There are two important issues, however. The storage system will prevent me from beating my March 2020 fulfillment deadline; I had hoped to fulfill in February. (This is still a much better timeline than a 3rd party system.)

Secondly, my ideal system as seen in the video has a significant price tag. I am getting the final details, but I want everyone watching the video to know that this is a prototype idea and subject to change if the final accounting does not work out (for example, a reduction in the number of boxes). I will NOT change the stretch goal or push the goal further out; this project WILL have a storage system, and a good one. The question is the number of boxes (and quantity is where the cost lies).

So, the purpose of this update is to hear from all of you regarding the concept. That feedback + Panda's analysis will help me finalize a storage system that meets the three goals above.

Thanks!

A New Non-Revenue Stretch Goal—the Storage System Returns!
over 4 years ago – Thu, Sep 26, 2019 at 07:54:30 PM

Posted in the daily diary, re-presented here so that everyone is aware! This storage system is going to be beautiful! Video coming hopefully on Sunday. You'll be able to store it vertically, horizontally, or in a tree.

I am very proud that there are no artificial reviews in the Obsession BGG rating. I've seen what has happened with Tapestry and Unbroken and other BGG firestorms where reviews aren't reviews. I would ask for only accurate, heartfelt reviews.

Thanks! Excited about these boxes!

Bulk Order Pledge Level Now Active
over 4 years ago – Thu, Sep 26, 2019 at 07:26:59 PM

Thank you to those who've been waiting to place bulk orders! A level bundling six Queen Victoria pledges at an additional 10% discount is now live (for a total of 31% discount off MSRP).

I actually remembered to turn off the shipping (d'oh), so that will be properly charged in the pledge manager; the shipping rates are mentioned and those rates are discounted (and will not increase with the 2020 rates come out).

For Bulk orders beyond six games, I would ask that you pledge the 6-game level and then contact me directly for additional games and discounts, which will be handled in the pledge manager after the campaign. I can't really make a dozen bulk pledges for every count (i.e., 10, 12, 15, 20), and I don't think there will be more than 2 or 3 of those; best to handle those unique situations directly.

Thank you for your patience!

Stretch Goal #4 (...and a New Stretch Goal and a Bulk Order Update)
over 4 years ago – Thu, Sep 26, 2019 at 02:40:37 AM

We've reached Stretch Goal #4! Be sure to welcome these new unconventional guests into our social circle.

So that they will not be lonely, I moved up Stretch Goal #5 to £115,000. Be on the lookout for profiles of the next four promo guests in the daily dairy near the top of the KS page.

Stretch Goal #6

The box bottom (with lid) project is proceeding nicely! I am going to attempt something very daring, something that will accommodate most storage requests.  Look for a prototype video on Sunday. Since my post in the comments has limited exposure, I am reprinting it here:

I want to make the storage stretch goal a social media stretch goal and not related to revenue. However, when it comes to social media I am like the primates in 2001 staring at the obelisk in confusion.

Can you give me some thoughts for social media stretch goals? One thought I have is that I would like everybody who has played the game to record a rating on BGG; that is so helpful for a small publisher. A second thought is that I would love for Facebook shares, particularly to Jane Austen, Victorian, and Downton Abbey lovers. Not sure how they track these things. Any advice for a luddite like me is appreciated!

Bulk Orders

Due to the weight of the game, I have had to research my bulk order pricing structure carefully. I will finish tomorrow and send out a dedicated update then. Thanks for your patience!

Stretch Goal Changes
over 4 years ago – Mon, Sep 23, 2019 at 02:02:42 AM

I solicited input on the box storage system.

More complicated than I thought.

Understanding that the box bottom system will require lids to enable vertical storage, I have to push that stretch goal down a bit (that is an expensive modification).

This gives me the opportunity to start rolling out a new wave of stretch goals. Check out the first two! In the daily diary, you will start meeting these user-created characters up close and personal. The original plan had been to sell this packet of promo cards in the pledge manager for about $7.  The first eight are displayed, and the second eight will be very reachable goals (135 and 150K). A $7 value prepackaged inside the Upstairs, Downstairs game box!
